Story

It's a sad day, and we need your help to create hope and give Charming a chance at survival. His life hangs in the balance. You can be his Angel.

We first met this personable and charming cat last year. He was suffering from a urinary blockage and his doctor recommended PU (perineal urethrostomy) surgery to fix the problem. While this surgery is not always the answer to male cat urinary blockages, it is common and we've seen it save lives many times. With any surgery, there is always a risk that a specific animal is not going to respond well. Charming seemed to be doing well at first, but then he started to have set-backs.

Both Charming's owners and FTLOA began to doubt the veterinarian's opinion on Charming's post-surgery care and we researched other area veterinarians to get a second opinion. During the first meeting, this new vet immediately saw a problem. He came into the appointment feeling optimistic but after a physical examination, he quickly saw that Charming was in terrible shape. He ordered more tests and records from the other hospital where Charming was treated.

What we learned from the records and testing was incredibly upsetting. Please know that we will not be dealing with the original hospital ever again.

Today, Charming's life hangs in the balance.

Immediately, Charming is coping with a serious and antibiotic-resistant urinary tract infection that has his bladder extremely inflamed. He is being treated with the best possible antibiotic and they want to keep him hospitalized, catheterized, and on IV antibiotics for seven days. This is a serious infection and they are throwing everything they have at it to give Charming his best chance.

If he can beat the infection, which we are hopeful he can, they will perform a revision surgery. In his current state, Charming will continue to have a declining quality of life, and will not survive much longer. The surgery is his only hope, but there is only a 25% to 30% chance of success.

The odds may not be in our favor, but we have hope and Angels on our side.

Please help us show Charming and his family that we are full of hope for him.
DONATE to his cause and send love and prayers.

Charming has been through so much. You can be his Angel.

This is a huge expense. The veterinary hospital is offering us a generous non-profit discount and they have been beyond accommodating, but the cost including the tests, treatment, a 7 day hospital stay and emergency care he’s received over the past few weeks, is quickly adding up to over $10,000.

Charming needs all of the help he can get

Charming needs ALL OF THE HELP we can get. Preliminary test results are good and it looks like Charming has probably overcome his infection. *Fingers Crossed* But this is not the biggest of our many worries. Tomorrow morning he will undergo an ultrasound so that they can make sure that his bladder doesn't show any signs of infection or other problems. If that turns out well, he will have surgery in the afternoon. As it stands, with the many complications he's faced, this surgery only has a 25% to 30% chance of a positive outcome. Without the surgery, he has no chance of surviving with any quality of life, so we are banking on that 25% to 30%.

PLEASE HELP by sending all of the positive vibes, prayers, thoughts, and energy you can spare to Charming. He needs all of the luck and love he can get.

It is also imperative that we raise enough money to cover his surgery. PLEASE DONATE TODAY. Every dollar helps.
