Can you help sweet baby Stony? This kitten needs major surgery to treat a congenital defect called Peritoneal-Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia. Her mom wants her baby back to being the adventurous, curious, brave, kindred spirit she was.
Stony, the California cat, needs your help. Typically, this fun-loving kitten would be the first to greet you at the front door, but a painful congenital defect is keeping her from being her fun-loving self. Stony has a Peritoneal-Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia and needs surgery to repair it. The veterinarian said her prognosis is excellent if she gets the surgery soon.
Stony’s mom wants to save her sweet kitten and help her get back to being the adventurous, curious, kindred spirit she once was. She has sold some of her own items just to pay for the initial vet appointments and does not qualify for care credit. She’s been calling for different estimates and asking every nonprofit she can find for help.
Right now, the estimate for this life-changing surgery is $4,500 to $6,555. As Stony’s owner continues to shop around to find a comparable skilled surgeon who can do the surgery for less money, we are feeling more and more like this will be the total.
Unfortunately, funding has been incredibly low this year, lower than during the heights of the pandemic. We do not have the funds to pre-pay to have the surgery done, so we are fundraising in advance. Please donate whatever you can to help this sweet kitten get her groove back.
For The Love Of Alex only pays veterinarians directly, and if we are lucky enough to raise more than we need for Stony, it will go to our general fund, where it can help more animals.
Please donate today. Let’s get Stony to surgery as soon as possible!
Stony got her stitches out and is doing well. They are sending her x-rays to be reviewed by a specialist, just in case, but everything looks positive so far.
Stony the kitten had surgery Monday June 14 to repair a diaphragmatic hernia. The surgery went well. Thank you to everyone that donated to save her life. Please keep Stony and her mom in your thoughts and prayers as she has a long road to recovery. The surgery was extremely complicated, Stony’s intestines were wrapped around her heart and her pancreas and liver were in the same area as her heart. All of her organs were moved back into place and the hernia was closed successfully.
Stony’s mom asked us to pass along her message to all of the For the Love of Alex’s donors that helped pay for her surgery. “I cannot thank you and For the Love of Alex enough for your help and support, this has all been so emotional for me. I’m so excited for her healthy future”
Because of the generosity of donors like you, Stony was able to get the life-saving surgery she desperately needed.
Thank you for caring.
