Update on Piper the Cat

Piper's surgery is scheduled for May 28, 2021. At first, I thought the date was too far in advance for my own nervous heart, but it was planned to accommodate the specializing surgeon's schedule. The surgery is on a Friday, and the specializing surgeon will be at that facility all weekend in case there is a setback.

Piper's medical story is complicated. She not only needs her ear canal removed, but she will also need abnormal and infected ear tissue removed. This article explains the TECA-BO surgery in detail.

Piper is also fighting an infection and has puss coming from a wound under her ear. Only one antibiotic can treat this type of infection, so the vet is planning a heavy regime of vetrimycin right after surgery to help with healing and avoid any complications.

Right now, Piper is doing pretty well. All things considered. She gets dizzy and falls over sometimes. She also has times of severe discomfort and pain, but she seems to be feeling okay for most of her days. Life will be much better after surgery.

Thank you for caring about this cat and her mom.
