Meet our new namesake, Alex II.

Alex II is a new chapter of For The Love Of Alex. 

We have some EXCITING NEWS! For The Love Of Alex has officially adopted a kitty.

Born on the streets of Philadelphia during the pandemic of the 2020s, Alex II was rescued by Kim Criniti of Meraki Animal Sanctuary.

For The Love Of Alex originated in 2003 when our organization's founder Elizabeth Hedges adopted Alex as a young kitten from the local SPCA. (See His Story Here.) Alex passed away suddenly on May 9, 2022, from a neurological event. He was 18 and he lived a long, happy, healthy kitty life.

We were not looking for another kitty to replace him. Recently, while browsing the internet, We saw this beautiful fur baby staring back at us; We couldn't believe his uncanny resemblance to our Alex!

We couldn't stop thinking about this kitty, so we emailed the rescue organization a picture of our Alex. They replied almost immediately! Meraki Animal Sanctuary is a fantastic organization located in northeast Philadelphia. They rescue cats, dogs, and rabbits from the streets of Philadelphia and have a TNR program. 

Alex II wasn't well; he hadn't been neutered and was neglected. He had an owner at one time who didn't want him and tossed him into the streets. A kind animal lover called the sanctuary to see if they could find him a home. Alex II has been at the sanctuary for six weeks; he was neutered, tested for FIV & FELV, vaccinated, and treated for a severe upper respiratory infection.

Alex II is a young male, his teeth are in good shape, and he has gained some much-needed weight. Alex is extremely friendly and playful and gets along well with the other FTLOA team fur babies.

We are thrilled that Meraki Animal Sanctuary chose us as Alex II's forever home. Alex II will continue the role of namesake at For The Love Of Alex. (He will have some big paws to fill!)

Alex II will play an essential part in helping us fundraise to help save the lives of pets needing emergency veterinary care.
